Baby Strange – Play Me – Single Review

Following on from their highly successful previous single ‘Motormind’, we have now been graced with another single from the growingly popular Glasgow-based trio Baby Strange. ‘Play Me’ is another delve into their intended sound direction for due to be released EP, ‘Extended Play’. Premiering on DIY last Thursday, it’s another explosive release from the three-piece. Give our review a read below…

Packing the same honest high-energy punch as previous releases ‘Play Me’ captures Baby Strange’s uniquely gritty sound in what is two and a half minutes of unmatchablely raw talent.

Opening with a rolling drum rhythm which then breaks into a full band ensemble of a drivingly potent bass line running alongside dark-drawing guitar riffs and vibrant- luring vocals. Giving us a look into a darker sounding Baby Strange.

Intertwining sparkling-electric riffs and almost groove inducing bass lines bring about the continuously pressing feeling of a feelgood track with an underlying compelling tenacious factor, giving ‘Play Me’ all the necessary elements of a brilliant live track.

Dropping to a rich bass-line which stands alone- continuing to build the singles overall  striking energy. Before being met with the singles final thirty seconds of sheer  powerfully thrashing instrumentation and bold high-octane vocals which lead to an abrupt finish leaving you wanting more.

A dynamically fiery track which leaves you surrendering to its short but sweet power trip.

You can catch Baby Strange on a Scottish Headline tour this September. Dates below…
