Everyone knows The Chainsmokers from their massive hit ‘#Selfie’ all the way back in 2013, a tune that will be stuck in your head for weeks. Quite annoying, not as bad as ‘Gangnam Style’ but sadly just as catchy as ‘I’m An Albatraoz’. I do have to shamefully admit that I will still sing/attempt a horrible American accent whenever it’s on and it is in fact on my pre drink playlist. I also used writing this as an excuse to blast it from my laptop for hours. Come on though, everyone has that one song…
Chainsmokers have since released ‘Kanye ft. SirenXX’ which, I will less shamefully admit to having on my playlist because it’s just a good chilled song. Not going to lie, it would make a good remix that could put its sister track to shame- now that would be a banger! Maybe a weird combination of the two or is that too far? I also love the way the videos for both these tracks link in with each other with the opening scene of ‘Kanye’ staring the first verse of ‘#Selfie’. It gives me the same satisfaction as when Casualty and Holby City cross over – don’t worry I already know that’s sad, I’ve accepted that’s who I am as a person.
But I’m getting off track… their new song dropped last Friday so I’ve had a full week to appreciate it and I will not deny loving it because it is a cracker – ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ featuring Daya.
I have to say that I love the vocals of Daya, she has the voice of a wee angel demonstrated on her last release ‘Hide Away’ – and while I don’t tend to listen to a lot of her work unless it’s on the radio, I do appreciate a good voice when I hear one. The combination of great vocals and a nice beat, it just has to do well. The Chainsmokers have still to hit a number one on the UK charts, maybe this could be the track to do it?
This is the first release off their debut album due to hit us sometime later on in 2016 and as long as it has more tunes like this, I will happily buy it. This latest release has to be a good sign though, after all there’s no smoke without fire.
Also if you have time- check out ‘New York’ which is another smashing track!
Thanks for reading the ramble,
